The all-new generation Honda Civic Type R is almost here. The Japanese automaker will unveil the Prototype of the popular hatchback at an auto show in Tokyo which will be held by mid-January.
It has been confirmed that the new Honda Civic Type R Prototype will be unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon. The event will be held between January 14 and 16, 2022. Alongside the Prototype, we suspect Honda will showcase the new generation Integra – or just give out a teaser.
So far Honda has just released a few pictures of the Civic Type R prototype which doesn't really give out much information about the upcoming hot hatchback. What we know so far is that the new Type R will have a large spoiler at the back and a triple tip exhaust. An aggressive body kit all-around and larger wheels are expected as well. Stiffer suspensions and a reinforced chassis will be offered as well.
The engine will be an all-new unit, most likely a newly developed 2.0-litre boosted motor. The gearbox on offer will be a three-pedal manual for the purists, and expect a dual-clutch automatic as well which will definitely be faster than the manual one! We’re expecting the power figure to be in the range of 300-340bhp, and all of that will be forwarded to the front wheels.
Unless! Honda has silently decided to go all-wheel-drive and pick a fight against the Volkswagen Golf R. But no, the odds are slim and The new Civic will continue with the FWD layout.
So far the details are limited, but we shall find out more about the new 11th generation Honda Civic Type R very soon when Honda reveals it in its Prototype form.
