A significant change to the 2023 BMW X7 comes to its exterior as it now sports a fresh fascia thanks to the new split twin headlights with horizontal LED light elements set higher up in the front end housing the daytime driving lights and turn signal indicators. The larger grille takes precedence as the bottom half is now trimmed down to give the car an upright stance as well as help with the massive footprint it occupies. The top-spec BMW X7 M60i xDrive gets the glowing BMW kidney grille as standard and will be offered as an option for the other variants. At the rear, the slim light units have three-dimensional sculpting, while a chrome bar connecting the rear light units is enclosed within a glass cover.

One can also opt for the M Sport package with an M-specific design that offers an exclusive M Marina Bay Blue metallic paint finish among other cosmetic upgrades. Wheel choices range from a standard set of 20-inch light-alloys to 21-inch M and 23-inch light-alloy wheels.

The interior is as opulent as ever, and since this is the first major upgrade given to the flagship SUV, the cabin of the 2023 BMW X7 features high-quality, vegan surface material with leather-like properties. Heated comfort seats are provided as standard for the driver and front passenger, in addition to individual captain seats for the second row as optional. The newly designed 12.3-inch instrument panel and the 14.9-inch display for the infotainment are covered by a single piece of glass that runs the latest version of BMW's iDrive infotainment system and can be controlled via the gear selector lever. A four-zone automatic climate control, and a panoramic glass sunroof are some of the standard features, along with wireless charging compatible mobile phones.

The engine range is headed by a new 4.4-litre petrol V8 for the range-topping BMW X7 M60i xDrive, which is derived from the engines powering the high-performance cars coming out of BMW M GmbH with M TwinPower Turbo technology that develops 530 bhp and peak torque of 750 Nm. Then there is the latest-generation six-cylinder in-line twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre engine as well, offered on the X7 xDrive40i, developing 380 bhp and 520 Nm of peak torque. All engines partner with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission including shift paddles on the steering wheel and a Sprint function, sending power to the road via the all-wheel-drive system BMW xDrive.
