Honda will be launching the City Hybrid today. The booking amount has been set to Rs. 21,000. It will be the first hybrid sedan in our country. We already know that the City Hybrid will be offered in two variants. There will be V and ZX. Now, some details of the upcoming hybrid sedan have been leaked. The below-mentioned information has been leaked through a document of the sales team.
There will be three driving modes on offer. There is Hybrid mode, EV mode and Engine mode. The battery would be able to charge via brake regeneration and the engine will also charge the battery. The engine would be a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 97 bhp of max power and 127 Nm of peak torque.
Then there are two electric motors, one of which is an integrated starter generator also known as ISG, this motor is integrated with the petrol engine. Then there is the second electric motor that drives the front wheels and produces 108 bhp of max power. The total torque output stands at 253 Nm. However, we cannot add both the power outputs. But the document says that it will have 74 percent more torque and the fuel efficiency will be 40 percent more when compared to the regular City.

There would be an electronic parking brake and all four disc brakes on offer. Honda will also offer Smart Watch connectivity through connected car technology. It will come with Alexa Remote Capability and Google Voice Assistant. Also, there is a LaneWatch camera that shows what is coming from behind through a camera feed.
Honda is also offering LED headlamps that are expected to be the same ones as the regular City. Honda is also offering their Honda Sensing Tech with the City Hybrid. It consists of Collision Mitigation Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation and Auto High Beam Assist.
Honda is also offering a warranty on the battery but the document does not state the time period. The battery would be placed in the boot space which means the boot space will take a significant hit. The regular City’s boot space is 506 litres whereas the boot space of City Hybrid is 410 litres. This boot space is without the spare wheel, if Honda decides to offer a spare wheel then the boot space will fall even more. Also, because of the additional batteries, the weight of the City Hybrid has gone up by 110 kgs.
Other features that the document reveals Automatic Brake Hold System, two-tone 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a different front grille with mesh design, a trunk spoiler and a rear bumper diffuser. The interior is now finished in ivory and black theme, with glossy dark wood garnish on the instrument panel and the instrument cluster will be revised to show hybrid information.
The price of the City Hybrid is expected to be between Rs. 18 lakhs ex-showroom to Rs. 20 lakhs ex-showroom. That is quite a bit more expensive than the regular City. However, you do get a one of a kind hybrid vehicle that will deliver better fuel efficiency than the other mid-size sedans.
