7-year-old struck by SUV in Humboldt Park, critically wounded
CHICAGO -- A 7-year-old boy was critically hurt in a crash Thursday evening in Humboldt Park.
The child was struck by an SUV just after 6:30 p.m. at high rate of speed near the intersection of Iowa Street and Hamlin Avenue, Chicago police and fire officials said.

He was transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition but stabilized, fire officials said.
CPD said the boy had been "in the street" when he was hit, and the vehicle drove away north on Hamlin after the crash.
The boy suffered a leg injury.
