Overview
The Lamborghini Urus is this brand’s answer to an SUV in the luxury car market, and it does not compromise on the look or feel of this SUV label.
There are three Urus models available for purchase in South Africa, namely, the standard Urus model, the limited edition Graphite Capsule and Pearl Capsule models.
The price for each of the models varies from R3.5 million to over R4 million. These will differ according to which model you choose and whether you add features to your car.
About the Lamborghini Urus
The Lamborghini Urus was introduced to the South African market late in 2018, and is widely considered to be one of the first luxury SUV models available on the market.
The Urus boasts an eight-cylinder engine, 478 kW of power, 6 000 rotations per minute, and 850 N.m of torque with 2 250 to 4 500 rotations per minute, which is carried throughout the car by the ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission and the 4.0 litre, V8 twin-turbo engine.
This all-wheel-drive vehicle accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds and tops out at 305 km/h.

What makes the Graphite and Pearl Capsules different from the Standard model?
The Urus Graphite Capsule model comes in four different matte colours which appear on the body and the lower front, as well as the rear and side stills of the car.
To accent this fashionable, modern look, there are also four bright accent colours that feature on the front splitter, door inserts, and rear spoiler, for an added splash of colour.
This model also features the 23 inch Taigete alloys, which are available in the same accent colours, and a black chrome colour for the exhaust.
The Urus Pearl Capsule is available in one of Lamborghini’s high-gloss pearl colours, which is then paired with a high-gloss black roof, rear diffuser, and spoiler lip. Other accents include the 23 inch high-gloss black alloys and the matte-grey tailpipes.
Both of these options come with the ventilated Alcantara seats, which is exclusive to the Capsule models and retain the Volkswagen group’s twin-turbo 4,0 litre V8 engines.
Other costs
Luxury cars often have extensive options when it comes to add-ons and extras, and the Lamborghini Urus models are no different.
These extra features come at an added cost, which will drive up its total price, depending on what you choose to add.
Some examples of added features available for the Urus models and the estimated costs of these features are as follows:
Add-ons and extra features | Estimated price |
Metallic paint | R49 905 |
Uprated alloy wheels | R105 354 for the 22 inch version |
Panoramic sunroof | R60 995 |
Trailer towing option | R34 933 |
Other add-on options include an extended warranty plan and various interior trim and colour customisations, which will also lead to added costs.
Where can the Lamborghini Urus be purchased in South Africa?
The Lamborghini will be sold and distributed in South Africa through two Lamborghini dealerships in Johannesburg and Cape Town, while a dealership in Durban is starting the process to offer the Urus models in the future.
When these Urus models are purchased from any of these dealerships, it is sold with a three-year 100 000km drive plan included.
Final thoughts
The Lamborghini Urus is not your standard SUV or all-wheel-drive vehicle. It boasts many of the features that loyal customers have come to love about the brand, as well as the same fashionable interior and exterior designs and mechanics.
The price you pay for your particular Urus model will depend on the model type, optional added extras, and the dealership that you purchase the car from.
