Back in March, our dealer sources suggested that Skoda will be introducing a new top-spec Monte Carlo variant to the Kushaq SUV by May. Well now it's official. The Kushaq Monte Carlo will go on sale on May 9.
So what’s coming in the Kushaq Monte Carlo? As per earlier spy images, the SUV will get some styling enhancements in the form ofnew alloy wheels, and blacked-out accents all over the body. Inside, there'll be an all-black interior, withblack seat covers featuring red inserts.
As for the features onboard, the Monte Carlo will retain the likes of a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, a sunroof, and connected car tech. But it will also bridge some of the SUV’s misses against rivals like the Hyundai Creta, by getting the Slavia’s 8-inch digital drivers display.
In terms of powertrains, the Kushaq Monte Carlo will likely only have the 150PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol TSI engine to play with. The Kushaq also comes with a 115PS 1-litre turbo-petrol TSI engine with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options. While we’re yet to know which transmission the Monte Carlo will be limited to, the current top-spec Style can be specced with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG.
Expect Skoda to retail the Kushaq Monte Carlo at a price premium up to Rs 50,000 over the top-spec Style that retails at Rs 18.19 lakh (ex-showroom, India) owing to the upgrades at hand. This could place the Kushaq in a better position against rivals such as theMG Astor, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Renault Duster, and Volkswagen Taigun.
