A student in Cork city is raging after criminals robbed all four of her alloys and tyres off her car overnight.
On the morning of Tuesday, April 6th, Cork student Andrea Baker was woken by gardai at her door informing her that they had received a report that thieves had nicked the wheels from her car.
Speaking to Cork Beo, Andrea said her car had been parked on Connaught Avenue near College Road, perpendicular to Donovan Road where she lives.
"I was woke up at 5:30 in the morning to the guards knocking on my door as they had been called by the girls living in the house on Connacht Avenue,
"These girls were woken up at 5:15 approx to tools banging off the ground."
The girls who notified the gardai managed to take a picture of the criminals as they dismantled the wheels from the black Volkswagen Golf and passed the photo on to Andrea.
The photo shows one person taking the wheels from the car.
Andrea said that the girls witnessed a second person drive up in a silver Volkswagen Passat, and the pair rolled the wheels into the "getaway car."
Sharing her situation in a Tik Tok video, Andrea wrote "Pls help me find them, sound #collegeroad" and the clip of her tale of woe has amassed over 80k views with many sharing their words of sympathy.
"The thief took my 4 wheels and 4 Volkswagen Alloys and left my car jacked up on a Jack and on a stone on the other side."
Andrea is suspicious that the robbery was planned, saying "the thief brought the essential tools needed to take off my wheels and jack up the car."
She continued: "The next day the guards forensically analysed the handprints left on the car, however the lads were wearing gloves so the handprints couldn’t be used."
Understandably angry, Andrea said she is just glad that "luckily it is covered under my insurance policy."
Gardai confirmed to Cork Beo that they are "investigating an incident of theft that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 5th April 2022 on Connaught Avenue in Cork city.
"The theft occurred from a vehicle outside a residence in the area."
