Two boys were seriously injured when they flew out the back window of a minivan that was struck by a driver who allegedly ran a red light Sunday in East El Paso, police said.
A total of six people were injured in the three-vehicle collision at 1:11 p.m. at Lee Treviño Drive and Edgemere Boulevard, police reported.

The Nissan T-boned a teal 1995 Chevrolet Astro van heading west on Edgemere, a police news release stated. After hitting the van, the Nissan went over the median and hit the back of a white 2005 Hyundai Accent.
The minivan was driven by Daniel Viellela, 34, who had a front passenger, Hector Raul Hernandez Santos, 50, and passengers in the back: Isabela Perez, 56; a 13-year-old girl; a 13-year-old boy; and a 6-year-old boy, all of East El Paso, police said.
The boys were thrown out of the van's rear window by the impact. The driver and all the other passengers, except Perez, also were injured, police said.
The van only had a driver’s seat and had no passenger seat nor seats in the rear, police noted. Channel 14-KFOX reported that the van appeared to be moving furniture and two couches were seen on a sidewalk at the crash scene.
