The S90 receives a new R-Design trim for 2020, incorporating popular features and distinctive styling. Its exterior defines sophisticated luxury, and the cabin space is equipped with leather-wrapped seats, giving it a premium touch. While the vehicle is available with T6 and T8 engine options, its potent powertrains and well-balanced handling make the sedan stand out. The R-Design variant, too, has a sporty exterior, tech-loaded interior, and amenities like four-zone temperature control and power rear sunshades.
Volvo has been famous over the years for equipping its vehicles with top-notch safety features, and the 2020 S90 is no exception. Besides this, the sedan also offers a sturdy design, smooth performance and comfortable cabin space, making it popular among enthusiasts.

A Design That Sets Competitors Apart
The 2020 Volvo S90 lives up to its premium tag with a commanding appearance as distinctive T-shaped, ‘Hammer of Thor’ running lights and the imposing front grille add to the vehicle’s breadth and heft. While chrome elements are sparingly employed, 19-inch wheels are offered as standard on all trims. However, optional 20-inch wheels are also available. R-Design versions have gloss black accents for most of the highlights, which add to the aggressive body package. Apart from these, a panoramic sunroof is also included in the car’s exterior, as are dual-exit exhaust tips. The vehicle is 200.1-inches long with a wheelbase of 120.5-inches. Without mirrors, the body width is 74-inches, and the height comes up to 57.1-inches.

The R-Design trim offers a free paint choice, with Black Stone as the basic solid paint finish. Five metallic colors, including Osmium Gray, Bursting Blue, Onyx Black, and Bright Silver, are available for an additional charge, in addition to the standard Crystal White. The Inscription model receives the same base Black Stone, but instead of the Bursting Blue choice, Mussel Blue and Pine Gray are available.

Filled With Advanced Technology
The interior of the S90 is, without a doubt, the vehicle’s best feature. Open-pore wood, real leather, brushed metal, and finely grained plastics create a unified and indisputably modern atmosphere. The 14-way power-adjustable front seats provide all-day comfort. Nonetheless, the spacious interior and well-appointed cabin of Volvo's upsized S90 continue to amaze. The rear seats feature more than 40 inches of legroom that can be equipped with seat heaters and climate controls. Leather buckets in the front seats have power adjustment as standard, and controls for heating and cooling and massage are also offered as an option. The slim roof pillars and low window lines give the interior an airy, spacious edge and exponentially increase visibility. The S90's higher-end trims come with added features, such as a Nubuck headliner and exotic trim materials.
The vehicle's trunk space is a generous 15.4 cubic feet, and standard power-folding 60/40 split second-row seats allow storage of larger items. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster display is standard on all the variants, and Volvo's Sensus user interface is preloaded on a 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen. Standard features offered by the carmaker include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, HD radio, and GPS navigation. Two USB ports are located in the front row, while two are located in the back row. The base audio system has ten speakers, whereas the R-Design and Inscription versions include a Harman Kardon premium system with 14 speakers. Optionally, a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins high-end system is offered. A four-year membership to Volvo's On Call app is also included, which powers smartphone accessibility to vehicle features and car-sharing preferences.
Unmatched Safety And Potent Powertrain
The Volvo S90 is based on Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), which underlies almost all the company's current lineup. The car’s strong underpinning helped it pass the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's stringent tests. The sedan comes standard with pilot assist, a semi-autonomous driving technology that incorporates adaptive cruise control and front collision assist with automated emergency braking. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear collision mitigation, post-collision braking, a rearview camera, front and back parking sensors, and frontal, side-impact, and curtain airbags are all a part of the safety features. Along with these, a driver's knee airbag is also available to ensure maximum safety.
The T6, a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 316 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque, is the S90's basic engine. This engine accelerates from 0 to 60 MPH in under 6.0 seconds. The T8 adds a 10.4-kWh hybrid battery that can run the S90 for up to 21 miles on electricity alone and electric motors that offer an additional 84 HP and 177 lb-ft of torque, so a total of 400 HP and 472 lb-ft of torque is offered by this engine. The T8 can accelerate the S90 to 60 MPH in only 4.8 seconds. All-wheel drive is standard on both S90 models, together with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The outstanding 2020 Volvo S90 is available with two engine options. Again, the T6 variant comes in three trims: Inscription, Momentum, and R-Design. T8, on the other end, offers a hybrid engine. The price tag for the T6 ranges between $50,000 to $53,000, whereas the hybrid T8 costs above $60,000.
