The 2021 Lexus LS is a flagship, full-size luxury sedan with five seats. It's driven by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine with 416 HP and a 10-speed automated transmission. Apart from this, premium features such as a Shiatsu-inspired massage and a reclining back seat with an ottoman are available as options. Kiriko cut-glass or hand-pleated origami-inspired fabric panels for the doors. Alternatively, the car also offers a traditional and elegant wood trim, and the cabin includes Active Noise Control.
The trunk capacity of this premium sedan is around 17 cubic feet and comes with an optional power trunk lid. The LS can seat up to five passengers and comes standard with power-adjustable seats that can be regulated in 16 ways, including heating and ventilation. However, there is also an option for 28-way power-adjustable and massaging front seats. The rear seats provide 39-inches of legroom. Features such as 18 or 22-way power-adjustable rear seats, memory settings, massaging functions, and heating are available as an option. The rear passenger-side footrest and a leather-wrapped rear center armrest boast a 7-inch touch screen for controlling audio and other vehicle settings. Apart from these jaw-dropping luxurious features, the sedan also offers Dual-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof, and proximity keyless entry as standard.
In terms of technology inside the cabin, the vehicle offers an upgraded 12.3-inch infotainment system with touchscreen functionality. Since the display is positioned closer to the driver, it's easy to reach. Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay, navigation, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is included on all LS models. The list of features does not stop here. The interior also showcases a 12-speaker stereo, USB outlets, satellite radio, HD Radio, Remote Touchpad, speech recognition, and Bluetooth.
A Sophisticated Driving Experience With Unmatched Safety
The 2021 LS is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 416 HP at 6000 RPM and 442 lb-ft of torque. By default, a 10-speed automatic gearbox distributes that energy to the rear wheels or to all the wheels, which is available as an option. The 500h trim boasts a 3.5-liter V6 Atkinson cycle engine assisted by two electric motors, producing a total system output of 354 HP. The CVT transmission is combined with a 4-speed automatic gear set. It's been designed to mimic the feel and reaction of a standard 10-speed automatic transmission. The estimated fuel economy for the base LS is 18 MPG in the city, while it gives an average of 29 MPG on the highway in case of the rear-wheel drivetrain. For the premium all-wheel-drive models, a return of 17 MPG is observed in the city, while the sedan offers an average of 27 MPG on the highway. Finally, the hybrid version of LS is a little more economical.
In terms of safety, the car offers its signature Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 package of driver-assistance functions that is standard across all models. There is an option for an advanced semi-autonomous driving mode. A few standard safety features include forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist recognition, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Other safety features include automatic high-beam headlamps, adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, lane tracing aid, rain-sensing windshield wipers, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. As an option, Lexus offers enhanced safety through features such as a surround-view parking camera system, automatic lane change assist, front cross-traffic warning, head-up display, and rearview mirror camera.
The 2021 Lexus LS 500 starts with a Retail Price of $79,250, as mentioned by the manufacturer. The all-wheel-drive F Sport is tagged at $82,850, whereas the rear-wheel-drive version is for $79,600. The 2021 Lexus LS 500h hybrid starts at approximately $84,000.
